Overview
Senior Project Manager, reporting directly to the Operations Manager to initially support the development of major HDD projects in the UK through the tenders, preconstruction and early contractor involvement phases., Pre-Construction and Early Contractor Involvement
Responsibilities
* Provide precontract support in pricing works and challenge to UK and NL based pricing to form robust tender offers including working methods and engineering solutions.
* Coordinate and bid manage major HDD projects including framework schemes, sea outfalls and cable landfall for windfarms and EHV interconnectors.
* Liaise with the Pre contract department of Hanab Projects for tenders in the UK.
* Assist the VolkerStevin procurement team with developing HDD standards for supply chain procurement of minor HDD subcontracted works.
* Drive the incorporation and promotion of best practice in HDD drilling throughout all HDD works carried out by Volker Stevin Group in the UK.
* Provide technical and operational support to all aspects of VTS UK projects (including live drilling projects and ECI works), supporting Project Managers and UK Operations Manager.
* Assist with the recruitment of UK based drilling personnel.
* Provide liaison with the technical department of Hanab Projects and the UK and agree working methods and engineering solutions.
* Liaise with the operational drilling department, core team members and drill teams, spreading and collating best practice.
* Engage with supply chain, manage and audit materials, ducting, tooling, rigs, guidance, water, welding, etc. Supply Chain management support for VolkerStevin.
* Monitor HSEQ performance at site level to support Site Agent and Work Manager.
* Maintain quality performance at site level regarding standards of workmanship and documentation.
* Oversee engineering controls and performance of site engineering teams including HDD drill rig setup.
* Support management of supply chain during construction: progress, coordination and feedback.
* Produce, review and monitor construction methodology documentation including RAMS and ITPs to ensure compliance with the company’s quality management system and the employers’ requirements.
* Produce as-built documentation from site.
* Forecast, procure and reconcile materials.
* Collate site data for inclusion in Daily Progress Reports.
* Ensure adherence of the project team to information management procedures and requirements.
Business Development and Client Facing
* Represent Volker Wessels Group at UKSTT, attending industry events.
* Support business development of the VTS brand generally.
* Prepare technical presentations, identify client needs and scope projects.
Qualifications
* Experience of managing heavy civil engineering projects in the UK and/or overseas, preferably within a Tier 1 contractor environment.
* Previous experience of pipeline and/or utility sector including the use of trenchless techniques including Horizontal Direction Drilling (HDD).
* Management of safe systems of works and quality management.
* Implementation of Permit to Excavate and Services coordination.
* Excellent IT knowledge including use of AutoCAD and Microsoft suite.
* Degree/HNC, or equivalent, in civil engineering desirable.
* Member of a professional institution, MCIOB, ICE or similar.
* Good communication skills with client representatives, site team and operatives.
* Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion.
* Full Driving Licence.
