We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and approachable to work within our team at Torre Abbey. If you love historic buildings, have a passion for lifelong learning and engaging the local community in heritage this could be the role for you.
Torre Abbey is Torbay's most historic building complex dating from 1196. An ancient scheduled monument set within 17.8 acres of gardens and parkland. It's an accredited museum owned by Torbay Council, home to a regionally important collection it's been a centre of religious and artistic expression and hospitality for 800 years.
We are passionate about creating a universally welcoming environment, we work with a range of partners to develop a more accessible offer for our local community.
What you'll be doing:
* You will design, develop, deliver, and evaluate a comprehensive learning strategy to engage all users in line with Torre Abbey's spirit of place and the Business, Learning and Access Plans.
* You'll work with communities, creative organisations, and partners to provide a co-ordinated programme of education and event activities to enhance the public cultural experience and encourage participation from under represented groups.
* You will contribute to exhibition programmes and other support activities to develop informal learning experiences for all sections of the community. To generate additional funding for education and lifelong learning opportunities within Torre Abbey.
This position is for a fixed term of 12 months from the start date.

Skills
Essential:
* Well-developed skills in development and delivery of cultural learning programmes for all people of ages.
* Organisational skills with good attention to detail and able to work on own initiative.
* Ability to think and act quickly when confronted with emergencies. Able to work with varying pressures deal with difficult situations.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Up to date knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum, GCSE and A Level criteria, vocational qualifications.
* Knowledge and understanding of informal learning and its benefits for audiences across the life-course.
* Knowledge and understanding of current thinking on learning, engagement and audience development in museums, galleries and cultural sectors.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Educated to G.C.S.E grade C or above in English & Mathematics.
* Educated to A level standard or equivalent in a relevant subject.
* Previous experience of direct delivery of education sessions and events for a variety of audiences/learners.
* Experience of generating income for education services through charged sessions, grants and/or sponsorship to ensure services are deliverable and sustainable.
