Position Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Assistant to join our Menswear team here at Barbour House in South Shields. As Technical Assistant, you will support the Men's Technical team with new season development and production, helping ensure we continue to deliver premium product in line with the business' critical path and budget.
The expectation for this role is 5 days onsite.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Track / chase / book in development and samples (from 1st proto to gold seal).
* Measure / review development samples ahead of fit sessions.
* Attend weekly fit sessions, taking notes and photos.
* Support creating, issuing and updating BOMS.
* Barcode layout approvals.
* Support fabric tech with care label layout approvals at peak times, if needed.
* Sending samples / parcels to suppliers, warehouse and customers as needed.
* Support with answering customer service queries as and when needed.
* Support with organising wearer trials and documenting the results.
* Support with booking of fit models.
* General admin - liaise with other departments, sales, suppliers, factories, helping to answer queries and resolve any issues raised.
* Maintain storage spaces and clearing samples no longer needed.
Skills and Experience
* A degree within the fashion industry / clothing technology field.
* Basic understanding of pattern cutting, garment construction and fashion manufacture.
* A proactive, problem-solving mindset with hands‑on approach and the ability to prioritise, multi‑task and deliver to given timelines.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Computer literate, including use of Microsoft Office, previous use of PLM systems or similar is an advantage.
