We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Paediatric Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist, based at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. This is a great opportunity for an experienced nurse to provide visible and supportive leadership to our team.
The Paediatric Allergy Day Unit is a busy unit which provides a 5-day service; and supported by a team of world renowned Specialist Consultants and Specialist Nurses, where they are trained in oral food challenges, intravenous drug challenges, skin prick test, immunotherapy, spirometry, etc.
The successful candidate will have access to all Paediatric Allergy courses that are available at our Imperial College and other institutions. We are looking for a candidate that will engage in autonomous practice and will be a driver for nurse-led clinics.
It is an expectation that all staff employed who come in contact with children and young people have a duty to safeguard and promote their welfare.
Main duties of the job
1. To demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in dealing with patients/clients, visitors/relatives and colleagues, maintaining good customer relations.
2. Contribute towards sharing good practice within the ward/department and Trust wide.
3. To promote a positive image of West London Children’s Healthcare at all times.
4. To work cohesively with all members of the ward team in ensuring that the very best services to patients are provided at all times.
5. Be involved in West London Children’s Healthcare organisational development plans to transform the hospital to meet the needs of future, this will include upholding shared values.
6. Work towards provision of support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the Allergy Department and Trust wide. Assist in the programme and provide clinical supervision, as required for all registered nurses working in the Ward / Department.
7. Work towards maintaining and promoting effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other Wards / Departments, including developing your formal presentation skills.

Essential criteria
8. RSCN/RN (child)
9. Educated to degree level in relevant subject area or equivalent experience
10. Teaching/mentorship qualification or experience
11. APLS/EPLS Certification
Desirable criteria
12. Advanced nursing practice qualification or working towards
13. Non-medical prescribing qualification or working towards
14. Allergy/Asthma Diploma
15. Spirometry Course
Experience
Essential criteria
16. Experience working within the Allergy/Asthma speciality
17. Possess the Capital Nursing Intravenous Passport or Equivalent
18. Advanced clinical skills and knowledge of patients clinical care.
