Job Description
We are recruiting an enthusiastic and highly motivated doctor to join our dynamic team as a Clinical Breast specialist for a fixed‑term 12‑month role. This post will support surgical procedures and breast clinics at Queen Alexandra Hospital, with opportunities to also manage thyroid disease and skin cancer surgery. Key Responsibilities
Conduct out‑patient breast clinics and clinical assessments. Perform theatre work, including surgical procedures within breast surgery. Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. Engage in research, audit, and quality improvement projects under consultant supervision. Assist in surgical management of thyroid disease and skin cancer as required. Contribute to training and development within the department. No on‑call rota participation is required. Qualifications
Full GMC registration with a licence to practice. MBBS or equivalent degree. MRCS or equivalent. PLAB (if applicable). ATLS certification (desirable). BSS certification (desirable). CCrlSP certification (desirable). Clinical Experience
Higher professional training in General Surgery at ST3+ level. Higher professional training in Breast Surgery (desirable). Experience working within the NHS. Clinical Skills
Ability to take clear and concise case histories and conduct thorough clinical examinations. Proficiency in performing appropriate surgical procedures. Knowledge
Demonstrated clinical knowledge at an appropriate level for breast surgery. Willingness to seek timely assistance from senior colleagues. Use of evidence‑based practice. Effective use of IT systems. Strong presentation and communication skills. Ability to handle pressure and adapt to team objectives. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
