Overview
The Welsh Blood Service (WBS) provides blood products to NHS Hospitals across Wales and is currently recruiting a full time Clinic Collection Assistant. From the members of the public who make incredible, life-saving donations to the dedicated members of our team who make it happen - people are essential to the service we provide. Responsibilities
* Welcoming donors
* Testing donors to see if they are able to give blood on that day
* Taking blood
* Maintaining records and offering basic clinical advice and aftercare
* Loading/unloading and assembling mobile donation equipment
* Being comfortable with the sight of blood
* Delivering excellent customer service and direct care to donors throughout the blood donation process
* Performing venepuncture and driving duties
* Working to agreed clinical and quality standards and procedures to safeguard donor and patient safety
* Developing skills in venepuncture, donor screening, meeting and greeting, appointment management and reconciliation in addition to core skills
Requirements / Qualifications
* Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, flexible approach
* Full training will be provided to perform venepuncture; no medical background is required
* Varied work hours, including long days, bank holidays and weekend working
* The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
