NES Fircroft are working with a global engineering company who are looking to add an Electrical Engineer to work with them from their Christchurch office. Electrical and Automation discipline within an Engineering Department, responsible for the Engineering of a specific portion of a project. Project responsibilities; productivity, technical output, resource control, progress, product standardisation, health & safety and compliance. Responsibilities: Produce, monitor, and/or check that technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation (drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, manuals etc.) meeting project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations. Specify the electrical, instrumentation and control requirements for mechanical / fluids equipment on products and projects. Work with the Lead Engineer or Product Owner as the technical focus for a specific portion of a project ensuring a successful and commercially viable contract execution. This would include monitoring and reporting budgets, progress and change management. Comply with the company operating procedures and statutory obligations. Participate in project design & safety reviews, risk assessments etc. and lead the electrical design & safety reviews on the project. Report to the departmental manager and/or project manager on all matters relating to the project. Co-ordination / liaison / monitoring third party design, manufacture, and assembly output to ensure project and statutory requirements are met. Provide technical support to ensure that equipment is manufactured, assembled, tested, installed, and commissioned in accordance with the design and operational requirements, both from the office and at site. Experience & Qualifications: Candidates will hold a Degree in Electrical Engineering, or HNC/HND with experience within industry Experience of metals industry advantageous Experience in process machinery, preferably in an Electrical Engineering role. Evidence of at least 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering works. Electrical concept, basic and detailed design skills, able to work alone or in groups to produce innovative, robust designs, built with both manufacture and operation in mind EPLAN P8 electrical schematic design expertise. Design calculation ability, for example with ‘MathCAD’ or Microsoft Excel. Basic CAD skills (Preferably Autodesk), training support is available. Working knowledge of environmental, health & safety, and technical regulations. Ideally hold experience of low voltage control and 3 phase 400VAC power, and cable schedules for equipment interconnections Desirable skills include PLC systems and instrumentation hardware / software knowledge (Siemens S7, TIA Portal, WinCC) and Advanced 3D CAD skills Prepared to travel to customer and supplier sites, sometimes at short notice, and be available outside normal working hours.
