Applications are invited for Medical Education Fellow positions at Brunel Medical School to start 10th August 2026. The post is for a period of one year, either as an out‑of‑programme experience or stand‑alone experience. This is a campus‑based role, and the post holder will be expected to work on‑site, at the Brunel University Campus in Uxbridge, London.

Summary of the role
The successful post holder will be part of a team of medical education fellows, contributing to the teaching of primarily phase 1 year 1 and 2 student cohorts, and to the ongoing development of the 5‑year MBBS programme. This is a non‑clinical, academic role, and the post holder will be expected to work on‑site, at the Brunel University Campus in Uxbridge, London.
Tasks and responsibilities
Main accountabilities and responsibilities:
Teaching Practice
* Teaching clinical skills and communication skills to first‑ and second‑year students.
* Teaching Anatomy to MBBS and other healthcare professional students.
* You may also teach years 3‑5 MBBS students.
* Contribute to the planning, development and review of curriculum materials.
* Contribute to assessment, including OSCE and anatomy spot tests.
Student and Staff Support
* You may be required to provide pastoral care to students, adopting an approachable and accessible attitude and offering regular personal contact.
* Monitor student progress, providing support, including advice on study skills, as required.
* Act as a responsible team member, leading where agreed, and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff.
* Cooperate with colleagues in the continuous review and development of the programme, including use of the VLE.
* Manage the work of others when requested to do so.
* Mentor colleagues with less experience and advise on personal development.
Administration and Management
* You may be required to manage administrative and student‑related matters in relation to modules, including co‑ordinating the work of others.
* Take responsibility for specific administrative duties such as admissions, examinations, assessments, personal tutoring.
* Attend and contribute to departmental, College and University meetings as required.
* Take an active role in student recruitment activities.
Communication
* Communicate complex and conceptual ideas in an accessible format.
* Disseminate good practice within subject area, department and College.
* Participate in and develop external networks, for example to contribute to student recruitment, secure student placements, facilitate outreach work.
* Engage in scholarship as required to support teaching activities.
* Extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to teaching and appropriate external activities.
* Contribute to competitive proposals for funding of education enhancement projects.
External Engagement
* Participate in appropriate learning and teaching events internally and externally.
* Attend local/regional discipline meetings where attendance is beneficial to your role at the University.
Professional Development
* Undertake continuous professional development (CPD) in medical education, according to prior experience and performance.
Other Duties

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), with the licence to practise.
* The individual has no requirement to maintain their GMC licence to practise during the appointment.
* Postgraduate medical education qualification.
* Experience of teaching a range of topics in the subject area to UG/PG students.
* Experience of contributing to the design, delivery and/or evaluation of written and/or Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
* Experience of producing high-quality teaching materials and resources.
* Experience of online education; development of materials and/or delivery.
* Interest in/experience of interprofessional learning.
* Involvement in scholarly / educational and/or professional/practice-based projects.
* Experience of interactive learning such as problem-based or team-based learning.
* Experience of managing significant administrative duties linked to teaching or assessment.
Experience
* Understanding of the principles of curriculum design and development.
* Sound understanding of education theory and evidence-based medical education practice.
* Good understanding of issues affecting undergraduate medical training.
* Ability to provide academic leadership in the context of curriculum design and development.
* Ability to coordinate and prioritise a range of activities effectively.
* Communicate new and complex information effectively, engaging the interest and enthusiasm of the target audience.
