C&I Design Engineer (All Levels) Location: Haydock, Merseyside (Hybrid working available)
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 (DOE)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
About the Role As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most stimulating and innovative EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects in the UK. Based at a state-of-the-art control panel manufacturing facility/ Design office in Haydock, Merseyside, you’ll play a vital role in delivering electrical control and instrumentation (EC&I) design solutions for complex industrial systems.
What You’ll Do
Lead and deliver EC&I engineering design for electrical control panels and associated systems.
Interpret and translate client requirements into practical engineering solutions.
Oversee the full EC&I project lifecycle, from design through manufacturing and testing, including change control management.
Plan and execute tasks to meet project objectives — on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Engage directly with clients, managing expectations and ensuring project scope is delivered effectively.
Prepare, review, and approve engineering and design estimates, reporting progress and cost control metrics.
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven technical experience in EC&I design within a professional engineering environment.
Experience in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, oil & gas, or power generation (highly desirable).
Strong understanding of project engineering principles, cost control, and quality management.

Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear Design
Control and Automation System Design
Motor Control Centre (MCC) Design
Variable Speed Drive (VSD) Systems
Experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar CAD tools
Familiarity with AMTECH design software
Security Clearance
Existing UK Security Clearance (SC) is advantageous.
Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance due to the nature of the work.
