What Role You Will Play In Our Team
You will work in a team of electrical engineers based at the Fawley site in Hampshire, supporting the business units that operate here. The responsibilities include working with maintenance, technical and process units to drive safety, improve long‑term reliability, provide technical knowledge for risk‑based decisions, respond to breakdowns and give engineering support for projects. The role is site‑based, with some flexibility for remote work from time to time.
What You Will Do
* Provide specialist electrical engineering advice and recommendations to Process and Maintenance Departments, ensuring the electrical supply meets demand, investigating equipment failures, developing equipment strategies and improving reliability.
* Provide professional electrical engineering support for projects, including the preparation of screening studies, design bases and specifications for specialist projects.
* Provide professional electrical engineering support and recommendations to management on electrical safety, infrastructure and technology issues.
About You
To be eligible for this role, you must:
* Hold an engineering degree in electrical engineering, or an equivalent subject.
* Be, or be working towards being, a Chartered Engineer as defined by the Engineering Council or equivalent.
* Have relevant electrical engineering experience in an operational environment at a COMAH facility, preferably refining or petrochemical.
* Be familiar with relevant legislative requirements, particularly the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and DSEAR regulations.
Candidates should also have demonstrated experience of:
* Troubleshooting and fault‑finding electrical equipment.
* Working with high‑voltage switchgear.
* Working with UPS systems (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
* Working with protection systems.
* Supporting major maintenance activities such as plant shutdowns.
Candidates who do not hold a degree in electrical or electronic engineering will also be considered if they:
* Have a relevant electrical maintenance or engineering qualification at Higher National Diploma level or above.
* Can demonstrate ongoing professional development/learning over multiple years.
* Have a high degree of relevant experience in electrical engineering and/or maintenance on a COMAH facility, meeting the experience requirements set out above.
