Locum Consultant – Gastroenterology & General Internal Medicine The RVH have a requirement for a Locum consultant in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine (for a period of up to 3 months initially – pending Trust recruitment), commencing August 2026.
Responsibilities
General gastroenterology outpatient clinics (x2 per week)
Mixed endoscopy sessions (x2 per week)
Inpatient cover of general medical patients including acute medical take cover (1 in 6)
Out of hours cover for general medicine (1 in 7)
Inpatient gastroenterology consults in MIH (1 in 4)
Essential Criteria
Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians United Kingdom /Ireland or equivalent qualification / training
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview date), CESR or European Community Rights
At least 1 year of experience working at consultant level in the NHS in a consultant post in Gastroenterology
Full registration with the General Medical Council with a License to Practice in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine
Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues. Communication, reasoning and team-working skills to be demonstrated on application and at interview.
Full JAG Certification (or equivalent) in both Upper GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy
Access to a means of transport to facilitate movement between sites
Eligibility to work in the UK as per UK Visa and Immigration Regulations.
