You’ll lead the delivery of a wide variety of archaeological multidisciplinary environmental projects, ensuring they run smoothly, meet quality standards and achieve real impact. You’ll work alongside a highly experienced team, contributing to our shared company goals of creating practical, cost-effective solutions for clients across the UK.

What you’ll do:

The Project Manager role is responsible for the successful delivery of archaeological projects from quotation through to completion, ensuring they meet time, budget and quality targets. The role involves maintaining compliance with legal and professional standards, overseeing site work, and managing resources and subcontractors effectively.

On the commercial side, you’ll be involved in preparing and reviewing quotes and tenders, supporting marketing and business development efforts, building and managing client relationships, and, most importantly, identifying new opportunities to grow the business.

You will also provide line management to designated staff, lead early career training initiatives, and support public engagement activities. The role requires upholding company values, maintaining accurate records, completing mandatory training, and continual professional development.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Seek, quote for, secure, and successfully deliver archaeological projects to time, budget and quality targets.
* Play an active role in business development and contribute to national initiatives.
* Manage and grow client relationships; identify new opportunities and cross-sell services.
* Oversee fieldwork projects and independently attend meetings with clients and other stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with legal obligations, company procedures, and professional standards.
* Accurately record time and resources; coordinate sub-contractors, purchase orders and invoicing.
* Deliver public engagement activities, including lectures and community events.
* Use company management systems consistently and effectively.
* Monitor own workload and utilisation, communicating proactively with line managers.
* Line manage nominated staff, supporting their development and performance.
* Identify resource and skills gaps, contributing to effective resourcing and training solutions.
* Uphold and demonstrate company values: team-focused, collaborative, inclusive, honest, and professional.

What you’ll bring:

* Relevant archaeological experience, with a strong track record in independently managing projects and leading teams.
* A solid grasp of UK archaeology legislation, policy, and best practice, along with a proactive approach to quality and compliance.
* Strong working relationships with Local Planning Authorities and a professional network that includes clients and specialists across the sector.
* Confidence and skillsn identifying and pursuing new business development opportunities.
* A genuine interest in supporting and developing people, with experience in mentoring or leading training initiatives.
* A positive, professional communication style, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture.
