Objectives:
Accountable for the Credit Risk function across the Shojin Group of companies, including reviewing the structuring of real estate transactions, and managing risks across the company's portfolio. This position requires a seasoned risk professional with extensive experience in real estate financing, restructuring and recovery strategies within the private equity sector. Show strong commercial acumen and operational discipline in implementing and monitoring the function, through robust systems and controls to support business expansion in the UK and Globally.
Responsibilities:
* Risk Assessment:
Working closely with Origination to ensure systems are in place to analyse credit risk of potential borrowers and to manage the credit risk within the existing portfolio of loans.
* Credit Framework:
Develop and implement credit policies and lead the credit approval process by recommending appropriate credit limits and terms.
* Monitoring and Reporting:
Build systems to ensure continuous monitoring of the credit portfolio to identify potential risks, and prepare reports on credit risk exposure, trends, and compliance with established credit policies.
* Risk Mitigation:
Design and implement strategies to mitigate credit risks on new and existing deals via areas such as setting up collateral requirements and negotiating loan covenants.
* Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to credit and risk management.
* Collaboration:
Close working relationships to be established with other departments, such as origination and legal to ensure Credit support the borrower assessment process.
* Communication:
Work closely with other departments, such as origination, investments and operations, to communicate credit decisions and understand business requirements.
* Technology:
Utilize credit risk management software and tools to analyse data and improve decision-making processes.
* Training & Development:
Provide guidance and training to team members to enhance their understanding of credit risk management. Particularly, to understand the learning from restructurings and recoveries.
* Crisis Management:
Develop strategies for dealing with customers in financial distress and support the NPL AD on recovery and restructuring plans if necessary.
* Management:
Lead the credit risk function including NPL's and Portfolio management and participating in the monthly Management & Risk Committee.
* Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators, to ensure comprehensive risk management practices.
