SEN Support Assistant – Primary Schools (South Tyneside)
Location: Primary Schools across South Tyneside
Pay: £500 – £550 per week (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday – Friday | Full-time / Part-time

Milk Education is recruiting compassionate and dedicated SEN Support Assistants to work across a range of welcoming primary schools in South Tyneside.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
Whether you have school-based experience or come from a background in care, support work, or youth services, this is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career in education.
Your Role as an SEN Support Assistant
You will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, including:
1. Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
2. Supporting children with needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and speech & language difficulties
3. Assisting the class teacher in delivering adapted and inclusive lessons
4. Implementing individual learning plans (IEPs/EHCPs)
5. Promoting positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
6. Helping pupils build confidence, independence, and social skills
7. Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for caring, patient, and resilient individuals who are committed to supporting children’s development:
8. Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, etc.)
9. Understanding of SEND needs and support strategies (desirable but not essential)
10. A calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach
11. Strong communication and teamwork skills
12. A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential
13. Relevant qualifications (CACHE, NVQ, etc.) – desirable
