Site Engineer – Tunnelling & Civil Engineering Location: Middlesbrough Rate: £300 – £450 per day (CIS/LTD, negotiable depending on experience) Start Date: ASAP Duration: Long-term 2 years We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major tunnelling and civil engineering project in Middlesbrough. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a complex infrastructure scheme with a leading contractor in the heavy civils sector. Key Responsibilities: * Setting out for shafts, tunnel alignment, and associated civil structures * Supporting tunnelling operations and surface civil works * Managing QA processes, as-built records, and site documentation * Coordinating with subcontractors, engineers, and the client to ensure works are delivered to spec and on time * Monitoring progress and reporting to senior engineers and site management * Ensuring all works are carried out in line with HSEQ standards * Assisting with temporary works, geotechnical monitoring, and instrumentation Requirements: * Strong civil engineering background with previous experience in tunnelling or underground works * Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related field * CSCS card (essential); SSSTS or SMSTS (preferred) * Confident in setting out using GPS and Total Station equipment * Familiar with CAD, site QA systems, and technical drawings * Good understanding of temporary works and geotechnical principles * Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills What’s on Offer: * £300 – £450 per day, depending on experience * Long-term contract on a high-value tunnelling project * Opportunity to gain experience on technically challenging infrastructure * Strong support and career progression opportunities with a respected contractor Apply now with your CV or contact us directly to find out more
