As the Stamping & Tooling Lead Engineer, reporting to the Forward Programme Planning Manager, you will influence product designs and engineering. You will develop viable business solutions, generate initial programme inputs, and liaise with the GME Stamping organisation and other functions within the Body-In-White Enterprise, including Design Studio, Product Engineering, GME, MP&L, and Procurement.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Act as the programme interface for Product Engineering & Design during early product creation phases. Provide initial concept feasibility support for Design Studios and Product Engineering before the Feasibility and Process Engineering team’s engagement.
Responsibilities include:
1. Being the technical enquiry point for all new programmes from JLR Design, Product Engineering & Engineering Service Providers, providing initial feasibility responses.
2. Providing status updates on CAD progression and part feasibility to the programme planner.
3. Outlining initial concept processes and blank material for costing and RFQ purposes, maintained within the parts feasibility tracker.
4. Arranging and conducting feasibility gateway events (F Events) as per EQAP+ procedures.
5. Generating geometry modification requests via e-Trackers, FCRs, JIRA, and AIMs systems to record feasibility requirements.
6. Collaborating with Technical Specialists to support investigations that deliver business solutions meeting programme targets for CAPEX, Quality, Material, and Performance.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
To succeed, you should have:
1. Knowledge of CAD, especially Catia V5 & V6.
2. Understanding of Stamping Forming guidelines & principles (BoD & BoP).
3. Forming Simulation capabilities.
4. Ability to present to all levels of Leadership.
5. Strong Problem Solving skills.
