Nursery Teaching Assistant (Early Years Foundation Stage)
Key Responsibilities
Support for Children
1. Support children’s learning through play, exploration, and structured activities in line with the EYFS curriculum
2. Encourage children’s social, emotional, physical, and communication development
3. Support children with personal care needs, including toileting, dressing, and feeding where appropriate
4. Promote positive behaviour and support children in developing independence and self-confidence
5. Observe children’s progress and contribute to learning journals and assessments
6. Support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) as directed
Support for the Teacher
7. Work collaboratively with the class teacher to plan and deliver engaging learning activities
8. Prepare learning resources and set up indoor and outdoor learning areas
9. Assist in monitoring and recording children’s progress and development
10. Support group activities and one-to-one learning as required
Support for the School
11. Work as part of the wider EYFS and school team
12. Communicate effectively with staff and parents/carers as appropriate
13. Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development activities
14. Uphold the school’s ethos, policies, and values
