Our Business Support Service is looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, and organised managers who can supervise a team to ensure that a high level of administrative support is provided to our departments.
Our Business Support Service is a centralised unit which has been formed to deliver a co-ordinated, consistent, and high-quality service supporting service delivery across the organisation. Business Support is critical to ensuring our departments can support services to our residents, and if you have great administrative skills and a strong customer focus, you could be part of it.
You’ll be working as part of the central Business Support Service with more than 400 colleagues, supporting our departments to deliver critical services to the residents of Hertfordshire.
We have the following vacancies:
Older People East & North Herts, Stevenage – 37 hours
The team works with adults aged 65+, as well as adults with dementia, supporting them to manage their care needs. They provide social work and occupational therapy assessment and advice for older people and their carers, often alongside our partners in Health.
Safeguarding, Countywide – 18.5 hours
The Hertfordshire Safeguarding Adults Service ensures a robust and fit-for-purpose Safeguarding arrangement across Hertfordshire, focusing on building strong relationships with citizens and partners, with Making Safeguarding Personal at the heart.
Integrated Discharge Team, Apsley – 37 hours FTC/Secondment to December 2025
Provides assessment to adults in hospital needing social care and support for discharge. You will support the service by providing high-quality administration in this fast-paced environment.
Day Opportunities, West – 37 hours
Provides activities and support to adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues, physical disabilities, sensory needs, and age-related conditions. Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, managing staff across multiple sites within West Hertfordshire and travel to Stevenage for meetings.
Supported Living, West – 37 hours x 2
Supports adults with disabilities, interacting daily with service users, managing staff across multiple sites within West Hertfordshire with travel to Stevenage for meetings.

About The Role
Business Support Supervisors will:
* Manage a team of business support staff, ensuring high-quality support and quality assurance
* Allocate work based on requests from the Directorate or line manager
* Proactively resolve issues related to resources and demand, escalating as necessary
* Support complex Business Support activities, especially cross-council tasks, leveraging experience and knowledge
* Support career development of Senior Support Officers and Support Officers
* Line manage both Senior Support Officers and Support Officers
About You
Essential:
* Extensive experience in administrative/support roles, with strong knowledge of business support activities
* Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities across audiences
* Ability to develop good relationships with managers and staff, understanding service areas to support and advise effectively
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software
* Experience working in a fast-paced team environment
* Proven track record of establishing and improving business processes
* Ability to plan work over short timescales, work independently, and use initiative
* Strong numeracy and literacy skills, broad experience in relevant area
* Enthusiasm and pride in work
* Ability to meet tight deadlines with high accuracy in written communication
* Knowledge of legislation linked with Children's Services
* Strong background in finance
Desirable:
* Recognised vocational qualification or degree
* Experience in administering meetings and note-taking
* Previous supervisory experience of administrative staff or setting long-term priorities
* Understanding of HR processes and procedures
