Role Information
The school is seeking a reliable, proactive, and skilled Caretaker to join their dedicated site management team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and site upkeep
* Opening and securing the school buildings (including key-holder duties)
* Ensuring all areas of the school are safe, clean, and operational
* Conducting routine inspections and reporting maintenance issues
* Supporting health & safety compliance, risk assessments, and fire procedures
* Monitoring heating, lighting, and energy systems
* Managing deliveries, moving furniture, and setting up rooms for events
* Overseeing contractors and ensuring work meets safety standards
* Responding to emergency maintenance situations promptly
* Supporting large school events, parents’ evenings, and community lettings
This role requires a practical, hands-on approach and a commitment to maintaining high site standards.
Requirements
* Experience in maintenance, caretaking, or facilities work
* Good understanding of health & safety and site security
* Ability to carry out repairs, manual handling, and basic DIY tasks
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
* Strong communication skills and positive attitude
* Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends when required
* Ability to carry out physical duties (e.g., lifting, moving equipment)
