Job Purpose
Our technical department provides in-house and on-site technical support across the business to support the correct specification, monitoring, and delivery of LWS guarantees. The team is responsible for ensuring that the service levels of our guarantees are upheld and for helping internal colleagues, external clients, and customers with technical-related queries.
The Design Services team is responsible for delivering roof prescriptions as part of our technical specification service. To ensure accuracy and quality, all specifications undergo a peer review process focused on technical correctness. As a Specification Technician, you will support the development of flat and pitched roof specifications by reviewing roof condition surveys and prescriptions, contributing to the production of robust and reliable technical documentation.
You will provide high-level specification support and technical guidance to key stakeholders, working collaboratively with colleagues across the sales and technical teams. By sharing your expertise and anticipating the needs of others, you will help enhance their understanding of roofing systems and contribute to the achievement of broader company objectives.
You will proactively manage our standard operating procedures (SOPs), and specification-related policies, sharing updates with internal customers via Langley’s Technical Knowledge Hub.
You will also tend to specification-related projects and map them onto the Design Services planner board, ensuring all tasks are tracked and managed efficiently.
Langley prioritises customer service. Your role will be to help the specification team consistently meet and exceed customer expectations.
Key Accountabilities
* Peer-review roof condition surveys and prescriptions.
* Provide excellent customer-focused service, consistently meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
* Understand the company and departmental business plan and how it impacts your role.
* Maintain specification-related policies and SOPs, ensuring changes are communicated to internal customers.
* Tend to specification-related projects and map them onto the planner board.
* Monitor the Design Services email inbox regularly, ensuring all specification requests are dealt with professionally and timely, prioritising tasks as instructed by your line manager.
* Work effectively as a team member and individually, using your initiative.
* Liaise with Langley staff, contractors, and clients regarding technical information or issues of Langley products, resolving queries professionally and timely in accordance with KPIs.

Qualifications
* Education to GCSE level grade A-C or equivalent (essential).
* Roofing, construction or business-related qualification (essential).
* Degree, relevant professional qualification or equivalent (desirable).
* A CAD related qualification (desirable).
Experience
Pre-Requisite Experience:
* Working within the roofing industry.
* Relevant experience in a technical related environment or similar where service delivery is paramount.
* Technical experience of roofing systems
* Experience of working to deadlines in a fast pace technical office environment.
* Experience of working as a team member and as an individual using your initiative.
* Working with KPI targets.

Additional Requirements
* Able to use a PC including Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software as used by the organisation, e.g. Microsoft Dynamics 365 (CRM) or potentially AutoCAD.
* Commitment to achieving high quality outcomes.
* This role does not require the post holder to be an Essential Car User, hold a full UK driving licence or have access to a vehicle.
* This role does not require the post holder to work occasional evenings and weekends or conduct work travel abroad.
