Rate of Pay : £13.69- £17.73 per hour Hours per Week: 22.5 Summary: Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Education Finance Administrator to join the Education department. The primary purpose of this role is to provide essential administrative and financial support to the LMS (Local Management of Schools) & Resources Manager.You will be responsible for the smooth execution of core financial services, specifically focusing on school grants, meal reconciliation, and general accounting tasks. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with strong numeracy skills who enjoys a blend of data management and customer service within an educational framework. Responsibilities: Administer and process claims for School Uniform and School Milk grants, ensuring eligibility criteria are met and funds are distributed accurately. Handle the processing of invoices for both debtors and creditors. This includes raising purchase orders and ensuring all transactions align with Council financial regulations. Provide direct administrative support to the LMS & Resources Manager to facilitate the core functions of the Education Finance service. Act as a professional first point of contact for general telephone and email enquiries from schools, parents, and external vendors. Essentials: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with intermediate proficiency in Excel (essential for data reconciliation and financial tracking). Demonstrable experience or a high level of comfort working with numbers, invoices, and basic accounting principles. Proven experience in a clerical or administrative role, preferably within a finance or public sector environment. Please note: You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
