In this role, you’ll help oversee funeral services and support families through one of life’s most difficult moments, ensuring each service is delivered with care, respect, and attention to detail. Your Impact and Responsibilities… As a Funeral Director, you’ll be a calm and reassuring presence for families. From the first meeting through to the day of the funeral and beyond, you’ll help guide them through their options with clarity and compassion. You will: Support and help lead funeral services with professionalism and attention to detail Assist with pre-funeral preparations to ensure services run smoothly Take a supportive, consultative approach when working with families Work closely with colleagues across the team to coordinate services Help manage schedules, resources, and records Assist with practical duties such as coffin preparation, chapel duties, and care of the deceased where required Contribute to a positive team environment, supporting colleagues and taking part in training and development Help build relationships within the local community, including care homes, celebrants, and religious or cultural groups Support coordination of services to ensure a seamless experience for families Skills and Qualities… We’re looking for someone who: Is compassionate, respectful, and able to support people during emotional situations Has strong communication and organisational skills Is willing to learn and develop knowledge of funeral practices and requirements Can remain calm and professional under pressure Is physically able to carry out manual handling tasks, including coffin bearing Is flexible and able to work weekends or be on call when required Holds a full UK driving licence (essential) What We Offer… Professional development: A comprehensive induction plan and the opportunity to complete in-house development programmes to set you up for success or to pursue a qualification through our apprenticeship programme.
