We are seeking an experienced Product Development Technologist on a 12 months FTC to lead our Own Label product development within the George Home bathroom, cushions and throws categories. It's a fantastic opportunity for a Home Textiles expert with a retail or manufacturing background to join a fast-paced, growth environment.
Your Role
1. Agree and implement the Quality plans within specific product areas, in line with the category/trading strategy
2. Propose individual targets and implement the plans for benchmarking, customer complaint management and consistency within the product area. Develop products and support projects that adhere to Asda’s technical and legislative policies
3. Accountable for ensuring suppliers within the category meet Asda policies and deliver products against the agreed specifications. Measuring supplier performance will be key
4. Accountable for ensuring the legal label on product specifications are accurate and maintained on the specification system, adhering to the required timings
5. Conduct reviews of the market, comp shops, trends workshops etc
6. Be the category lead for quality in your accountable areas, working cross functionally to support the senior manager to deliver the overall technical strategic
7. Conduct strategic risk assessment reviews of the supply base in conjunction with strategic category plans
8. Ensure all visits and audits are completed and communicated to the category as required, following a consistent, robust and documented risk assessment
9. Active participation in Horizon Scanning (internal / external) of category area, investigating anomalies, supporting development of policy and processes to mitigate private brand exposure to risk
What you’ll need:
10. Proven experience as a Development Technologist or Product Development Manager within retail or manufacturing. Textile NPD experience required
11. Track record of delivering product quality management, from concept to launch
12. Strong project and people management skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
13. In-depth knowledge of textile/hardline product development, quality standards and legislative requirements
14. Commercial awareness and passion for innovation and customer-focused product development
