What the role involves
* Provide clinical leadership to the peri‑operative team and mentor theatre staff.
* Manage the day‑to‑day coordination and clinical operations of the theatre suite.
* Ensure safe and timely provision of peri‑operative care for all surgical patients.
* Maintain compliance with CQC, AfPP, WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and Welbeck Oxford policies.
* Support Theatre and Procedural Suite Managers with staff rota planning, skill mix review and incident reporting.
* Collaborate with consultants, clinical and non‑clinical teams, and the senior leadership team.
Essential skills and experience
* Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) qualification.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development and revalidation.
* Significant peri‑operative/theatre experience (scrub, circulating, anaesthetic).
* Experience in a senior or lead clinical role within theatres.
* Experience coordinating or managing theatre lists and daily theatre operations.
* Experience of incident reporting, investigation and governance processes.
* Strong knowledge of AfPP standards, peri‑operative best practice and WHO Surgical Safety Checklist.
* Excellent organisational, planning and time‑management skills.
* Effective verbal, written and non‑verbal communication skills adaptable to a range of audiences.
* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across functions.
* Computer skills including use of electronic theatre management and patient record systems.

* Experience leading, managing and developing a peri‑operative team.
* Experience conducting staff appraisals and performance reviews.
* Experience in a private healthcare setting.
* Experience of sterile services and instrument management.
* Understanding of budgetary awareness and cost‑effective resource management.
* Knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory compliance.
