Hays Engineering are working with a market-leading brand supplying equipment to several industries that include the asphalt, concrete, aggregate, recycling, road building, ports, and mining sectors based in Omagh.
Your new role
Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for design efforts from inception through production, in new products and continuous improvement designs. This position will focus on material handling equipment for the aggregate industry, such as tracked conveyors, hopper feeders and telescopic stackers. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other engineers, cross-functional teams not limited to sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service. You will develop conceptual and final design solutions, manage and coordinate project activities, support existing product offerings, and perform testing or analysis of new and existing products.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Quality Improvement Team (QIT) projects using D8 process.
2. Lead cost reduction efforts to add equipment value for our customers
3. Equipment product improvements
4. Engineered to order job assignments
5. Assist Service with product support technical issues
6. Aid procurement with supply chain issues
7. Implement safety evaluations and improvements to the product line
8. Create, check, and maintain thorough engineering specifications and drawings
9. Manage engineering changes per establishedpany procedures
10. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field.
11. Minimum 3 years’ experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design).
12. Proficient with personalputing, Microsoft Office Suite, 3-D CAD software applications (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
13. Ability to read, interpret and create engineering drawings and standards.
14. Understanding of manufacturing practices including cutting, forming and welding of metals.
15. Good organisation and time-management skills.
Desirable but not essential:
16. Experience in the design ofplete tracked plant from concept through to production.
17. Experience in the use of FEA
18. Knowledge and experience designing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems
19. Working knowledge of a PDM/PLM package.
20. Understanding of engine, drivetrain, hydraulic and electricalponents and systems related to mobile equipment
21. Understanding of electrical control systems
