* Full GMC Registration, a license to practice, and eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
* UK-trained applicants should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the interview date.
* Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once awarded.
* Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Position Details
This is a permanent, full-time post (40 hours/week) based at Western General Hospital. The successful candidate will be a key team member providing high-quality urology services, including medical and surgical andrology, management of penile malignancy, post-prostatectomy erectile dysfunction, and general urology activities. The role involves performing key andrological procedures independently, with in-house mentorship available for the first year.
Service Context
Urology services are provided by the Lothian and Borders network, serving approximately 850,000 people across multiple sites, including Western General Hospital, St John’s Hospital, Borders General Hospital, and East Lothian Community Hospital. The successful applicant will primarily be based at Western General Hospital but may work across other sites.
