You will be a point of contact for the business and able to give credible advice on non-contentious consumer credit, contract and banking matters - as well as advise and support the Head of Legal on business initiatives and projects relating to the wider Mercedes-Benz group.

Key Responsibilities

* Draft, negotiate and finalise commercial contracts including fleet sales, supplier agreements, IT agreements, finance and insurance documents.
* Work on projects such as progressing the digital offering of financial products online.
* Provide general advice on a spectrum of legal matters such as data protection, competition law, and financial crime.
* Collaborate with the Compliance department to interpret regulatory (FCA) and legislative developments, focusing on financial services and insurance.
* Prepare Legal Reports to key stakeholders in the UK and at Mercedes-Benz Headquarters.
* Deliver legal training to the business as required.
* Occasionally support Litigation colleagues on contentious matters.

* Experience in dealer funding, security documentation and insurance contracts.
* Experience in data protection, competition law, M&A, company secretarial tasks and managing external law firms.
* A strong academic background with first-rate professional training, and the ability to balance the company’s commercial drivers against legal risk.
* Proactive approach to solving problems.
* Ability to carry out multiple tasks, prioritising work effectively.
* Ability to work well within a team and take on a variety of work.
* Willingness to support colleagues, irrespective of the task, to meet the needs of the team and the business.
* Gravitas and personality to advise stakeholders at all levels.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and people skills.
* Previous in-house, financial services and automotive experience is desirable, and a passion to learn about financial services/insurance law and business is crucial.
