Job Description:
Cambridge
Permanent / Term time only
Are you passionate about empowering young people to achieve their full potential?
Do you want to play a meaningful role in shaping lives while supporting inclusive education?
We’re looking for a dedicated Learning Support Mentor to join our friendly and professional Construction team. This is your opportunity to provide hands-on support that helps learners thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Learning Support Mentor, you’ll work closely with teaching staff to support the learning, development, and independence of our students, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You’ll be at the heart of their journey, helping them overcome barriers and unlock their potential.
Your role will involve:
* Supporting young people to achieve their individual learning goals, including targets outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Adapting class resources to suit individual needs—this could include enlarging text, modifying instructions, or other creative solutions.
* Working one-to-one with students to review and adapt their support needs, ensuring the help they receive is always relevant and effective.
* Taking part in ongoing training and professional development, supported by the Learning Support Manager.
What We’re Looking For:
We need someone who is:
* Empathetic, adaptable, and ready to use their initiative when supporting learners in real-time.
* A strong communicator with the ability to build trusted relationships with students and staff.
* Flexible and open-minded in approach—every day is different, and that’s part of what makes this role so rewarding.
Qualifications needed:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
* Ideally, some experience working with people with SEND, though this is not essential if you're a fast learner with the right attitude.
If you are interested in this Learning Support Mentor role, interviews are taking place NOW!
We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. You will have a safeguarding responsibility if appointed.
The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service, and employment will be subject to references.
This post is not exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
