GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a well know, growing engineering firm located in Kidderminster. We are actively recruiting a Logistics/Distribution Manager to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.
This position can offer up to £36K and an immediate start can be available for the right candidate.
As Logistics/Distribution Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the storage, transportation and delivery of goods to support the Engineering Department, to lead the logistics function keeping within budget and achieving output targets to exceed customer requirements and standards.
To be considered we are looking for candidates to demonstrate a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar Logistics based role.
Main duties:
* Manage warehouse inventory, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
* Schedule, track, and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments.
* Ensure timely material delivery aligned with client specifications.
* Assess and recommend optimal shipping methods, routes, and carriers; negotiate carrier rates.
* Oversee full subcontractor process management.
* Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements across departments.
* Build and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
* Lead, manage, and develop the team, including staffing, training, appraisals, and discipline.
* Supervise daily operations to maximize productivity and deliver a high-performing, multi skilled team.
* Conduct risk assessments and implement safety countermeasures promptly.
* Manage monthly and year-end stocktakes and overall logistics budgeting to meet performance targets.
* Handle import/export operations and management of Duty Deferment Accounts.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, team cohesion, and adherence to best practices.
* Responsible for coordinating the storage, transportation and delivery of goods.
Required skills and experience:
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in logistics environment
* Minimum of 1 years’ experience in import/export
* Competence in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
* Demonstrable evidence of leading a team
* Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the business
* Understanding and ability to work in an SME
* ERP systems knowledge
* Qualified to degree level, ILM Certificate of level 5 or above or equivalent
* Import/Export qualification
