Consultant in Clinical Oncology - Lung and Upper GI Cancers
The closing date is 21 May 2026.
Ensuring continued delivery of high quality oncological care for patients in the trust. The appointee will be Lead Oncologist for Upper GI cancers and share responsibility for treatment and management of Lung cancer and Mesothelioma with Dr Thippu, Consultant Clinical Oncologist & Affiliated Assistant Professor. The role will maintain and enhance the multidisciplinary management of patients with these malignancies, increase entry into clinical trials, and expand service as required to meet patient needs.
Main duties
The appointed consultant will contribute to the ongoing service improvement programme, developing:
* Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT)
* Implementing evidence‑based new ways of working when necessary

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* MRCP Part 1 and Part 2
* FRCR
* Postgraduate thesis awarded or pending
Experience
* Full Registration and licence to practice with the GMC.
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at time of interview.
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Clinical Oncology.
* Wide experience prescribing chemotherapy including e‑prescribing.
* Experience of Acute Oncology.
* Completed advanced communication skills training.

£109,725 to £145,478 a year (per annum pro rata).
