AsAbstraction Licensing Manager,you’llbe central to ensuring abstraction activities are sustainably managed and compliant with regulatory requirements, helping us meet increasing environmental expectations from regulators, stakeholders, and the communities we serve. About the role
Reporting to theAbstraction Compliance and Assurance Manager,the Abstraction Licensing Manageris responsible forthe end-to-end management of abstraction licences across the Anglian Water region. You will lead on compliance monitoring, regulatory reporting, licence applications, and financial oversight, ensuring robust processes are in place and no regulatory commitments are missed.
This is abusiness criticalrole requiring strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the confidence to interpret complex regulations and communicate technical information clearly across the business.
Key responsibilities
1. Lead abstraction licence compliance monitoring, including daily checks and compliance investigations
2. Ensure accuracy and integrity of all abstraction licence and monitoring datasets
3. Producehigh-qualityregulatory submissions, including abstraction returns andself-reporting
4. Act as technical lead on abstraction licensing matters,advisingand supporting internal stakeholders
5. Manage abstraction licence applications, renewals, variations, transfers, and revocations
6. Oversee abstraction licence financials, including annual fees, charges, and derogation payments
7. Support enhanced modelling and analysis forhigh-risk(“hot”) licence reviews
8. Maintainaccuratecorporate records of all licence conditions and changes
9. Work collaboratively with external bodies, including the Environment Agency and technical consultants
10. Support EIR requests and contribute to audit and assurance activities
11. Mentor and share knowledge within the team to strengthen capability and resilience
Required skills and experience
12. Educated to HNC level or equivalent NVQ
13. Experience in water resource managementorenvironmental assessment(Desirable)
14. Strong experience working with large datasets, data analysis, and reporting
15. Confidence interpreting regulatory, legal, and licence documentation
16. Experience managing regulatory submissions and compliance processes
17. Strong communicationand stakeholder engagement skills
18. Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
19. Confidenceand experience in owning large and complexfinancial processes and budget oversight
20. Experience using telemetry systems (Desirable)
21. Ability to manage your own workload and priorities effectively
