Salary
£45,413 to £57,422 per annum (pro-rata if applicable), depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The Mechanical and Aerospace Systems Research Group (MAS) seeks a Senior Research Fellow experienced in solid mechanics and stress analysis. The role involves working on industry-relevant projects, developing research strategies, managing a research team, and contributing to funding applications with industrial partners. The candidate should demonstrate independence, propose new research themes, and have a keen interest in developing an academic skillset.
Applicants skilled in stress analysis (including Finite Element Method), material characterisation, mechanical testing under extreme conditions, or machine learning for stress analysis are encouraged to apply. The role is broad, covering several active research areas such as friction welding, material testing, manufacturing simulation, failure analysis, and multiscale stress analysis.
