Smart Education is recruiting for an experienced SEN Teacher to work full-time in a specialist setting in the Newbury area. Ideal for a creative, confident practitioner who can support pupils with SEMH, complex needs, and additional learning barriers. The school offers a therapeutic, structured environment where pupils aged 6–19 are supported to achieve meaningful academic, social, and emotional progress. A driving licence is essential due to the nature of the role.

Job Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE
• Experience delivering high-quality lessons (good or outstanding)
• Strong understanding of SEN practice, SEMH needs, and inclusive teaching
• Adaptability and creativity when planning individualised learning
• Ability to manage behaviour using positive, therapeutic approaches
• Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
• Full driving licence (essential)

Role Responsibilities:
• Deliver creative, flexible, person-centred learning across a broad curriculum
• Plan, deliver, and assess lessons that meet individual learning needs
• Write and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Use outdoor learning, sensory approaches, and practical activities to enhance engagement
• Create a safe, structured, and motivating learning environment
• Work closely with support staff, therapists, and pastoral teams
