The Role & Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Access Control Coordinator to manage and oversee physical and digital access control processes across Surrey Police. We are looking for someone who combines strong administrative expertise with excellent communication skills and a high level of integrity. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient access management for staff, contractors, and visitors.
You will act as the central point of contact for access control queries while maintaining accurate records, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with security policies and data protection legislation.
The role is an office based position at Surrey Police Headquarters and working hours are 08:00-16:00, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Manage physical and digital access control systems, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely processing of requests in line with service level agreements.
2. Grant, amend, and revoke access permissions in accordance with role requirements, security policies, and clearance levels.
3. Coordinate the production, distribution, and deactivation of ID and access cards, maintaining up-to-date records and photo databases.
4. Verify vetting and security clearances and conduct regular audits of access permissions and system records.
5. Investigate and report access-related incidents or anomalies, ensuring compliance with data protection and regulatory requirements.
6. Act as the main point of contact for access control queries, working closely with HR, IT, Estates & Facilities, and Security teams.
Skills & Experience
7. Proven administrative experience with strong organisational and time management skills.
8. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across multiple channels.
9. High attention to detail with experience maintaining accurate, confidential records.
10. Ability to audit records, interpret system reports, and exercise sound judgement in access decisions.
11. IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office
