The role of the Finance Manager is to play a key part in the Operational Site Management Team to help the organisation drive efficiencies and maximise operational performance. The primary functions are to lead the finance team, overseeing financial and payroll activities, including the preparation of current financial reports._ It is essential that the successful candidate holds proficiency in SAP._
Responsibilities:
* Budgeting and Forecasting: Work with department and site management to prepare annual budgets and forecasts. Provide financial insights, and specific analysis on economical topics to support business planning.
* Month End Closing: Run the monthly closing process for the UK entity and ensure timely and accurate data uploads into the Group's consolidated reporting system.
* Payroll: Review weekly and monthly payrolls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Cash Flow Management: Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts to ensure the site has sufficient working capital. Be the main contact for day-to-day banking matters.
* Audit: Coordinate the preparation of annual statutory accounts and support the external audit process.
* VAT and Tax Compliance: Manage monthly VAT returns and liaise with advisors to ensure all tax obligations (e.g., corporation tax, PAYE) are met on time.
* Maintain Financial Processes: Work with the BU Finance Manager to ensure that financial systems, procedures, and controls are in place and operating effectively. Become the main point of contact for the company's accounting software (SAP) with support from the Group team.
* Ongoing Development: Make recommendations and implement process improvements to increase efficiencies within the finance department. Lead & mentor the local finance team to ensure excellence and development within team.
What we're looking for?
* A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or other similar) with strong experience in a chartered accountancy or auditor firm (big four preferred), or demonstrable experience in controlling.
* Ideally payroll processing knowledge & experience and/or experience of ADP (HR/Payroll Software).
* Experience of SAP financial software is essential in this role.
* Experience of managing a small team would be advantageous.
* Excellent administrative capabilities and proficient in the use of Microsoft applications; Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
* A confident and effective communicator with excellent written & verbal communication skills.
* Confident in a fast moving, demanding, ever-moving culture and business environment, ability to respond to changing deadlines.
* Ability to manage change & bring in new ideas.
* Attention to detail, desire for things to be done right first time, an eye for an error.
* Ability to travel nationally & internationally.
