Wye Valley NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Lead Pharmacy Technician to support antimicrobial stewardship service across the Trust. The post holder will work closely with the Lead Pharmacist – AMS, IVOPAT & Infectious Diseases and the wider multidisciplinary team to optimise antimicrobial use, support infection management, contribute to audit, clinical governance and service improvement activities, and provide specialist technical support within designated service areas.
This is a 3-year fixed-term opportunity for a skilled pharmacy technician with a strong interest in antimicrobial stewardship to make a meaningful contribution to patient safety and quality of care.
Main duties of the job
* Work towards and complete the Level 4 Clinical Diploma for Pharmacy Technicians.
* Ensure that medicines reconciliation is completed in a timely manner by communicating with patients, carers, GPs to ensure an accurate record of medicines, aiming to resolve any discrepancies or issues.
* Ensure that patient’s medicines are available in a timely manner during their inpatient stay by checking patients' own drugs and completing medication orders.

Education & Qualifications
* NVQ3 Pharmacy Technician / Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
* Achieved Accredited MM/Medicines Optimisation qualification or willingness to complete if not already achieved
* Level 4 Clinical Diploma or willingness to complete if not already achieved
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Communicate effectively to all levels of staff
* IT literate in routine Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc)
* Extensive knowledge of clinical pharmacy and ward-based working
* High degree of self‑motivation and ability to work on own initiative
* Ability to present information concisely and clearly
* Ability to problem‑solve within scope of practice
* Ability to communicate with senior decision makers
* Knowledge and understanding of basic management principles including team management and motivation
* Knowledge and skills to mentor and develop staff
