Responsibilities
* Coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team including paediatric shared care services, community services and district nurses and general practitioners to deliver high quality, evidence‑led care to patients.
* Exercise clinical judgment and decision making about patient needs in terms of long‑term goals or plans.
* Participate fully in the day‑to‑day organization and running of Children Young People’s Day Unit /Outpatient/McElwain Ward and Teenage Cancer Unit (CYPDU/OP, TCT, MCE) including the participation and oversight of the e‑scheduling, outpatient, admissions and community appointments to ensure a smooth patient’s pathway.
Qualifications
* Experience as a Band 6 Staff Nurse with a background of SACT administration experience, Intrathecal and Recovery competency.
* Other backgrounds will be considered.
About the unit
Our busy CYP Day Care and Outpatients sees over 6000 patients a year, requiring systemic anti‑cancer therapy, radiotherapy, procedures under general anaesthesia, and supportive care, delivered by our team. In addition to this, there is a TYA Day Care Bay with 4 chairs which are used to provide SACT and supportive care. The age range of our patients is 1 to 24 years old, making CYPDU a unique unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
