C# Real-Time Simulation Engineer (Defence Systems)
Bristol | Hybrid (2–3 days onsite) | Sole British nationals only
Before you apply - This is not a general software or web development role.
We are not looking for candidates whose experience is primarily in:
1. Web / backend (.NET APIs, enterprise systems)
2. Mobile or front-end development
3. Data analytics without real-time systems experience
The role (what you’ll actually be doing) You will develop real-time, performance-critical simulation software used to model complex defence systems (e.g. missile systems, sensors, and system interactions).
Your work will:
4. Run under real-time constraints where timing and determinism matter
5. Interface with hardware-in-the-loop rigs and test environments
6. Support verification, validation, and demonstration of physical systems
7. Contribute to distributed simulation environments used across engineering teams
What you’ll need
8. Strong C# software engineering experience in a real-time or performance-sensitive context
(not typical enterprise/web applications)
9. Experience with real-time systems, simulation, or systems modelling
10. Solid understanding of:Multithreading / concurrencyPerformance optimisationSoftware design for deterministic systems
11. Experience working in:Agile environmentsTest-driven development / unit testingCI/CD pipelines
Ideal backgrounds (highly relevant) We are particularly interested in candidates from:
12. Defence, aerospace, or robotics
13. Real-time / embedded systems engineering
14. Simulation or modelling of physical systems
15. Game engine development (Unity/Unreal) with a strong systems/programming focus
16. High-performance or low-latency software development
Due to security classification, this role is only open to sole British nationals.
