Job Summary

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to work as a House Project Facilitator within East Dunbartonshire’s house project. The House Projects supports care experienced young people leaving care to create their own homes and live connected and fulfilling lives. Young people will work through the House Project programme which is SQA accredited. Facilitators will be responsible for supporting young people to complete the modules and upload evidence. With young people central to everything we do a psychologically informed practice framework takes them on a journey to interdependence. A groupwork approach develops skills, knowledge and confidence. Young people become friends and support each other through the experience of leaving care together. They make their houses into homes and stay part of the House Project community which reduces the feelings of isolation and loneliness.

The House project is a trauma informed, relationship based approach, to supporting and working with care experienced young people- supported by monthly consultation with a clinical psychologist. Facilitators are expected to have a flexible, trauma informed approach to working with young people using innovative ways to engage and support dependent on the needs of the young person. Staff are trained and supported by psychologists and work in a trauma informed and responsive way. This enables them to tailor support to each young person.

Young people are supported through the delivery of group work and individual work to complete the house project programme. Once a young person moves into their home they continue to be supported by the house project.

The house project is part of East Dunbartonshire’s children and families social work services and as such you will be working closely alongside colleagues from the HSCP as well as third sector.

East Dunbartonshire’s local house project is supported by The National House Project. The National House Project (NHP) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), established in August 2018. It provides the knowledge, resources and support to establish and maintain Local House Projects (LHPs) and believes that joining a LHP should be an option for all young people leaving care.

The house project also supports the delivery of the Champions Board.

The role requires a minimum of HNC in health and social care or related discipline and experience of working with children and young people.

The House Project is currently based at Unit 2 Workspace Kilsyth Road.
