Silcoates is a successful independent co-educational day school with a long and proud history. We are looking for a talented and caring member of staff to join our team in Pre School for a period of maternity cover.
Silcoates is set in 52 acres of grounds in Wrenthorpe, near Wakefield, within easy reach of the M1 and M62, offering an all-through, fully co-educational day school experience for children from 2 to 18.
This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Pre-School Practitioner, complementing our teaching staff by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under a system of supervision in order to support and develop our youngest pupils. The role will involve opportunities to plan, prepare and deliver specific learning opportunities utilising the Early Years provision to provide a high standard of learning.
You should hold a childcare qualification at Level 6 and be able to demonstrate experience in a similar setting. You will need to be a good team player and have the ability to form good relationships with our children and their parents. You should have experience of using a variety of teaching styles and modes of learning and be able to demonstrate familiarity with appropriate learning strategies, including for numeracy and literacy. You should have strong experience of creating a stimulating classroom and learning environment, with a good knowledge and understanding of the development of children between the ages of 2 to 5.
The role is a one year fixed term contract from May, working full time Monday to Friday 08.00 to 5.00pm during term time only (35 weeks per year). We are happy to consider applicants wishing to work on a job share basis covering the hours above.
