We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, flexible and highly motivated individual who enjoys working independently and within a team. A successful candidate will:
* Be currently working within Royal Surrey County Hospital Theatres.
* Be a registered Nurse or ODP with a valid NMC or HCPC registration.
* Have experience with Mentoring.
* Provide evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Have a minimum of two years post registration, and two years of anaesthetic practice.
* Have proven experience of leading a team and supporting the department in and out of hours.

Job responsibilities

You should be a registered qualified Operating Department Practitioner or qualified Anaesthetic Nurse.
You should hold a mentorship qualification or be a Practice Assessor and have evidence of further study.
Excellent communication, IT and organisational skills are essential for this role.
It will be your responsibility to:
* Coordinate day to day supervision and monitoring of students, reporting to the Theatres Practice Development Lead regularly.
* Coordinate assessment activity and organise practice based tutorial sessions.
* Develop and enhance the quality of the learning environment to meet HCPC and NMC requirements.
* Positively influence the quality of learner experience, be accessible to students.
* Facilitate links between Higher Education Institutions, including regular attendance at Programme Management Team meetings.
The Theatre Department at the Royal Surrey County Hospital is a busy, multi-specialty unit committed to delivering a high standard of care.
We are the regional referral centre for Upper GI Surgery, including emergency oesophagogastric cases. We are leaders in Major Laparoscopic Surgery & Robotic Surgery with the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit – an internationally recognised centre of excellence created for the teaching of innovative laparoscopic surgical techniques.

Qualifications
* RGN / City & Guilds 752 / NVQ Level III in Operating Department Practice / Diploma of Higher Education in Operating Department Practice / BSc Operating Department Practice
* Degree / Diploma or evidence of equivalent experience
* Evidence of further study
* Management Course

* Demonstrable Operating Theatre experience
* Management of staff and resources
