Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the successful delivery of a confidential project. This is a contract opportunity for a highly capable engineer with strong experience in FEED, detailed design, and electrical distribution systems for new plant developments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing electrical engineering deliverables in accordance with Discipline Design Instructions, Company and Project Procedures on Safety and Quality, while meeting man-hour budgets and schedule targets.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
* Design electrical distribution systems within a multi-disciplinary project team environment.
* Deliver electrical studies, FEED design, and detailed design for new plant installations.
* Develop the following core deliverables:
* Basis of Design documentation
* Load Lists
* LV & MV Single Line Diagrams
* Electrical Specifications
* Engineering Calculations
* System Studies
* Electrical Narrative for Concept Reports
* Inputs to Layouts, Equipment Lists, and Cost Estimates
Technical Deliverables
* Prepare electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, and purchasing requisitions.
* Perform and coordinate protective relay settings and protection coordination studies.
* Size electrical equipment and develop detailed Load Lists.
* Design motor protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams.
* Develop LV & MV SLDs with strong knowledge of:
* Relay systems
* Metering systems
* Substations
* E-houses
* Review vendor designs for compliance with technical specifications and applicable standards.
* Review designs for constructability and alignment with project requirements.
Cost & Commercial Input
* Provide Electrical Bills of Materials (BOMs).
* Develop major equipment cost estimates for:
* Feasibility Studies
* Project Definition Basis (PDB)
* Detailed Engineering
* Establish project scopes of work.
* Develop engineering cost estimates and deliverable registers.
Stakeholder & Team Engagement
* Attend internal project meetings, client meetings, and vendor review sessions.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
* Coach and mentor junior engineers and project team members.
* Ensure work is delivered in accordance with safety and quality procedures.
Required Experience & Skills
* Extensive experience in electrical engineering design for industrial or plant-based projects.
* Strong background in FEED and detailed engineering.
* Proven experience designing LV and MV electrical distribution systems.
* Expertise in:
* Protective relays and coordination studies
* Substations and E-houses
* Motor control and protection systems
* Equipment sizing and specification development
* Experience reviewing vendor documentation and ensuring compliance with standards.
* Ability to manage deliverables within budget and schedule constraints.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience contributing to capital cost estimates at various project stages.
