Job Description:
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor with substantial experience in this area of law and practice. This role offers an opportunity to develop and enhance your skills through varied and quality work.
You will work as part of a team of Contract Lawyers, providing legal advice on issues including Public Contract Regulations, Company law, Subsidy Control, NEC and JCT construction Contracts, among others. You will handle a full and demanding caseload.
Senior Lawyers are expected to participate in team management and deputise for the Principal Solicitor, contributing to the delivery of excellent legal services.

Shortlisting Criteria
Applicants should demonstrate:
* Eligibility to practice as a Solicitor, barrister, or Fellow of CILEX in England and Wales, with a current practicing certificate.
* Experience in negotiating and drafting construction contracts, service agreements, and facilities management services.
* Ability to provide solutions-focused advice and quickly learn new subjects.
* Effective teamwork and managing priorities to meet deadlines.
* Leadership and organizational skills in client and project meetings.
* Advisory experience to Members and Senior Officers of the Council.
The role is hybrid; remote work will be considered. Occasional office attendance may be required, with the initial collection of equipment from our Reigate office.
You will assist in managing a team of lawyers, providing leadership, supervision, and legal advice to the County Council, its members, officers, and committees.
The role supports the wider management of Legal Services, promoting the council's values and behaviors.
Responsibilities include managing a demanding caseload, delivering innovative solutions, and potentially undertaking advocacy.
You will also support the Monitoring Officer in legal compliance and contribute to staff training on legal updates and issues.
