We're looking for a Senior Process Development Technologist to join our client, a market-leading food manufacturing company based in County Durham. You would play a key role as part of a growth-focused NPD team, acting as the conduit between NPD, Quality and Manufacturing, developing your skillset within a highly respected food organisation who offer a dynamic culture driven by its core values centred around food innovation and growth. Full-time permanent role offering a salary of up to £45,000 dependent on experience, based at the County Durham facility but with hybrid working on offer. About the Role As a Senior Process Development Technologist you will support the NPD team and wider business upscaling recipes from the onsite kitchen to the factory, working cross-functionally on retailer briefs and business-driven projects. You would be tasked with paying close attention to the development, optimisation and validation of thermal processing (retort), ensuring food safety, product quality and regulatory compliance, as well as being involved in continuous improvement projects to improve efficiency, safety and quality of products. A few key responsibilities to include - Carrying out feasibility studies with key stakeholders on new product briefs - Supporting the development and scale-up of new products, from kitchen to full scale production - Monitoring and optimising production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste and maintain product quality - Assisting in the commissioning of new equipment or production lines - Creating and maintaining process documentation, including trial reports, SOPs and production specifications - Working with suppliers to ensure suitability of raw materials - Supporting technical risk assessments and hazard analysis for new processes About You - Ideally an understanding of thermal process design and/or heat safety, or alternatively a sound understanding of food/beverage manufacturing processing and microbiological safety in factory environment - Experience with thermal process validation tools would be an advantage (e.g., dataloggers, thermocouples, process authorities) although this is not essential - Familiarity with food safety regulations and standards - Strong data analysis skills - Excellent documentation, problem-solving, and communication abilities - Comfortable working in factory environments We would also be keen to hear from more product-focused individuals with experience managing the NPD process from end to end, taking the brief from the customer/kitchen, delivering/managing the brief through the process - upscale, trials and launch.
