Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist (Norwich)

Location: Acorn Park School, Norfolk NR16 2HU (Acorn Park School forms part of our Options Autism brand, independent specialist day school for young people aged 4–19).

Salary: Up to 53,200 DOE

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to overlap with core school hours. Part-time hours may be considered.

Contract: Permanent 52 weeks

Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle


The role

* Join the in-house clinical team at Acorn Park School and deliver bespoke Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, are neurodivergent or have SEMH needs.
* Work collaboratively with the education team and follow the OFG Occupational Therapy Ways of Working to guide practice within an education setting.
* Hold an occupational therapy caseload with full support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Be part of developing an enhanced OT offer through supporting the growth of apprentices, students and therapy assistants.
* Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration to create an environment where pupils can flourish and grow in independence.


Essential Criteria

* Recognised Occupational Therapy degree
* HCPC registered and member of RCOT
* Relevant experience in a previously held role (LD, SEMH, neurodivergence)
* Enhanced knowledge and clinical understanding of OT theory and its practical application
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings, with some responsibility for service and team performance
* Experience of communicating with/working with families/relatives and carers
* Strong communication, relationship, analytical and judgement skills
* Understanding of the relationship between behaviour and communication
* Understanding of physical needs, dexterity, coordination and sensory skills for assessment and treatment
* Knowledge of development needs impacting independence
* Up-to-date knowledge of approaches relating to neurodivergence, learning disability and trauma-informed practice
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management
* Good clinical reasoning and ability to express rationale
* Willingness to engage in quality improvement and enhanced service delivery
* Understanding of information governance, confidentiality and record-keeping standards
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and supervise staff and students
* Knowledge of assessment tools, intervention programmes and formulation of treatment plans
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Full driving licence and access to a car
* Willingness to travel on company business
* Flexible and creative problem solver; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines


Desirable

* 3+ years practicing as an OT
* Formal postgraduate study in Sensory Integration and/or developmental trauma and/or sensory attachment
