This opportunity is newly-created within a super-prime main contractor. The organisation has a 10 year track record in the London market and has completed on 2 marquee projects this year which has resulted in a significant increase in project inquiries and future pipeline for the coming years. Projects typically range up to £20m for super prime residential refurbishments.
Job Description
As the Design Manager you will have responsibility across 1-2 projects depending on scale and complexity. You will work with a project team of PM, QS, and Build. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Appointment and management of design team
* Coordination of design and technical information with a focus on delivering the highest quality and ensuring buildability
* Management of progress reporting to the client and EA covering risk, outstanding items, and variations
* Management of RFIs and conducting site visits to oversee quality of delivery
* Providing technical solutions on site as required
This role will be largely site based (within central London). There is some scope for working from home, e.g. during preconstruction or at times when significant drawing review is required.
The Successful Applicant
Applicants for this Design Manager role will be both able to focus on details whilst also oversee a design programme at a more holistic project level. You will:
* Demonstrate a design/technical background (e.g. architecture, engineering, etc.)
* Possess project running or design management experience within a main contractor environment
* Have a track record of delivering high quality/super-prime projects through to completion
* Be an excellent communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships with clients and their teams, design teams and subcontractors, and other team members internally
You must have the right to work in the UK and will be comfortable being largely site based in central London.
What's on Offer
The offer to the successful candidate will be be between £65,000-£80,000 (depending on experience). Travel expenses are paid for and benefits include discretionary bonus, auto-enrol pension, and personal private medical.
