The Role
We have a unique opportunity for a Commis Chef to join our pastry teamand, to provide baked and chilled products to our signature Cameron Grill restaurant.
Seasonality and provenence is key, we will be using free range eggs and milk from local farms. There will be a strong focus on inhouse breads with a small selection of signature pastries. Signature desserts in our Cameron Grill will include classics such as Baked Alaska and Pink Lady Apple and Vanilla Tarte Tatin. You will be working with the Head Chef to ensure exceptional and memorable guest experiences.
As Pastry Commis Chef the scope of your role will be to assist with the smooth and efficient running of the pastry kitchen operation which will include: preparing food, cooking, baking and mis en place.
The Key Things You Will Be Responsible For
* Receiving, and safe storage of deliveries
* Performing basic cleaning duties according to schedules ensuring regular sanitization of all workstations and hand contact surfaces
* Discarding all expired and spoiled food items stored in the stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers and record keeping
* Accurately measuring ingredients
* Preparing ingredients, which includes washing, peeling,and chopping vegetables and fruits
* Preparing basic salads,sandwiches and sauces
* Plating and presenting food
* Supporting the kitchen porter team as required

To Be Eligible To Apply You Will Also Need
* National 5 Qualifications in English and Maths/ SVQ in Food Production at SCQF Level 5 or equivalent qualifications
* Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification
* Work experience within a professional kitchen, with pastry experience an advantage
* To be thorough, with keen attention to detail
* Ability to quickly build excellent working relationships
* A flexible approach to work
* Excellent communication skills
* Basic IT skills with knowledge of Office software and ability to use technology
