Shop Manager
We're looking for an experienced and driven Shop Manager to take the lead in managing a charity retail shop. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong retail experience.

As Shop Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing every aspect of the shop's day-to-day operations – from initial setup and visual merchandising to achieving sales targets and building a strong, motivated team of staff and volunteers. You'll play a hands-on role in establishing the shop's reputation in the local community, creating a welcoming, commercially effective environment from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
* Sales & Profitability: Drive commercial success by maximising sales, promoting donation schemes (e.g. Gift Aid), and identifying local opportunities to increase income.
* Customer Experience: Set high standards for customer service and lead by example to ensure every visitor receives a friendly and helpful experience.
* Team Recruitment & Leadership: Recruit, train, and develop a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, fostering a supportive, inclusive and enthusiastic workplace culture.
* Performance Management: Set goals, monitor performance, provide feedback, and manage any issues proactively to ensure a high-performing team.
* Shop Presentation & Merchandising: Maintain excellent visual standards and ensure the shop is clean, tidy, and well-stocked with high-quality donated goods.
* Stock Control: Manage the full stock process including sorting, pricing, rotating, and replenishing to ensure consistent flow and variety.
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure the shop operates in line with health and safety regulations and company policies.
* Cash Handling & Reporting: Take responsibility for tills, daily banking, financial reporting, and working to budget targets.
* Community Engagement: Build local awareness of the shop, support community events, and take part in fundraising activities to grow income and visibility.
What We're Looking For:
* Proven experience in retail management (charity retail experience is a plus but not essential)
* Strong leadership and team-building skills
* Commercial awareness and an eye for sales opportunities
* Excellent customer service and communication abilities
* Organised, proactive, and able to work independently
* Confident in working with volunteers and promoting an inclusive team environment
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £22,000.00-£23,850.00 per year
