Job Summary
Our welcoming and supportive Adult Community Mental Health Service in Ware is recruiting a Senior Social Worker to lead and manage staff in the delivery of Care Act expectations for social care and safeguarding within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote, lead and act in accordance with personalisation principles, supporting wellbeing and individual rights to choice and control within a multidisciplinary mental health team.
* Provide robust, consistent and expert social care advice in partnership with senior social care colleagues.
* Support newly qualified social workers through the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE), acting as an ASYE assessor and engaging in the ASYE moderation process.
* Undertake duties as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or be willing to undertake AMHP training.
* Champion social care with a comprehensive understanding of legislation and statutory guidance, maintaining regular links with the corporate Social Work and Safeguarding Team.
* Undertake complex assessments and reviews, ensuring people are assessed against social care eligibility criteria defined by the Care Act 2014.
* Offer direct support to service users and their carers, ensuring those who do not meet social care eligibility are signposted and supported.

Person Specification
Essential
* Registration with Social Work England and a professional social work qualification.
* Master’s degree or equivalent training.
* Approved Mental Health Professional training or intent to undertake training within a year.
* Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience with evidence of advanced practice.
* Extensive knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance and policy in adult and children’s social care.
* Experience of personalisation, choice and control, and care planning assessments.
* Experience of supervising and mentoring others.
* Evidence of multidisciplinary and collaborative working and partnership working with service users and carers.
Desirable
* Additional post‑qualifying training such as CBT, family therapy or Best Interests Assessment training.
