Role
Team Leader (Parks). We are looking for a suitable candidate for the post of Team Leader in Parks & Countryside. The role involves working with the General Parks Manager on the day-to-day management of parks and open spaces, including allotments, countryside, coastal areas, playgrounds, events, trees, and cemeteries within a designated area. This will include line management of Rangers and grounds maintenance operational staff, and liaison with friends’ groups and other internal and external organisations.
Responsibilities
• Line management of Parks staff (Rangers and grounds maintenance) and coordination with internal/external partners and volunteers. • Support day-to-day management of parks and open spaces within the designated area, including allotments, countryside, coastal areas, playgrounds, events, trees and cemeteries. • Collaborate with friends’ groups and other organisations to deliver services and improvements for the community.
About The Candidate
You will have experience of working in a Parks and Countryside or similar setting, with supervisory management experience, and appropriate Health and Safety experience. Familiarity with the Green Flag Award scheme and Management Plans is preferred. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with Council staff, public agencies, voluntary organisations, allotment groups and plot-holders, along with experience in procurement, budgeting, and ideally one or more of Parks and Countryside’s related specialisms. A full driver’s licence and willingness to travel around the borough for site inspections or meetings with friends’ groups or members of the public are required.
